My Evolution on Raw Foods

We all must start somewhere. There is never a finality to it, it's the process that matters. I, myself have evolved for the past 18 plus years (I am still a human and haven't become another species, as far as I can tell!) and have loved every minute of it. I've always enjoyed being in the kitchen when my Mom would be preparing food, and it was a natural progression for me to develop a passionate interest in the study of natural foods.

I started with a macrobiotic lifestyle, and it was a great stepping stone to where I am now. I have great respect for all my teachers and have incorporated points from their knowledge into my own life. One of the most important things I learned is to always have a beginner's/childlike mind, to keep that openness, to be like a sponge, to absorb all that life has to offer. I have carried this premise with me all these years, and it has served me well.

My personal direction has always moved me forward. I am a raw vegan (5 years), and this lifestyle makes sense to me on all levels. Even with that, I have not stagnated (O.K., maybe I have/had some detox reactions like mucus, etc. but I don't want to get too personal because I don't know if you want to hear the graphic details!) and continue to listen to others and to my intuition. Yes, we all have intuition and it's time to tap into what our inner self is sharing with us and innately knows what to do.

I fast/cleanse 4 times a year for numerous days and also dry fast. Do I love not eating more then eating? Actually, that has been the case for me at times and I find that when I fast I have a deeper mental and emotional connection to life.

I can say for certain that my physical appearance has changed (no I'm not trying to be vain), but it's more my internal beauty that I am proud of. I am a work in progress and yet, I am also perfect the way I am. My lifestyle overall has been a great influence on my family, in particular my Dad, who had quadruple bypass surgery before the age of 60, but today, more than 15 years later, is still alive and well thanks to my persistence and encouragement to change his eating habits (no small task for my Mom who prepares all the food). There ended up being a higher purpose to all the changes I've been through. Since my childhood, I knew I wanted to help people in some capacity and I am doing just that. You see, it's the "Evolution without the Egg."
