Raw Foods and Eye Bags

The area under the eye is subject to two different aging processes. One is that hollow-eyed appearance caused by the loss of the flesh padding under the eye. The other, more noticeable if not more prevalent, is the infamous “luggage” look. These bags are caused by fluid collecting under the eye because of poor circulation. When the fat pads in the eye socket weaken, fat drifts forward, filling the sensitive area under eyes. These aging processes can be addressed by following the raw food diet and performing facial exercises, such as those found in “Rawsome Flex“.

New research shows that fat expansion in the eye socket is the prime contributing factor to eye bags. Other common causes for this familiar cosmetic concern are thyroid dysfunction, fatigue, smoking, toxicity, fluid retention and free radical damage which shows up as wrinkles, droopy eyelids and eye bags.

Free radicals, whether they come from aging, overexposure to sunlight, or diet cause a breakdown of collagen and elastin fibers, which adversely affects skin elasticity.

Stretching and swelling from obesity also lend to the causes of eye bags. According to Dr. Frank Meronk MD, an eyelid specialist, in the year 2007 more than 240,000 people underwent cosmetic eyelid surgery known as blepharoplasty.

Blepharoplasty eyelid surgery lifts the sagging tissues underneath your eye regaining a more youthful look. It has become the most sought after cosmetic procedure, surpassing even facelifts. Fortunately for us, we have other methods at our disposal; methods that are natural, painless and best of all, practically free!

I have high hopes that soon, the raw food diet will become the most sought after solution for eye bags as well as countless other issues! Not only does a raw food diet help with everything from cleansing toxins to fighting free radical damage, it also offers superior hydration (which will go a long way in eliminating eye bags) by way of fresh vegetable juicing. See “Quantum Eating” for more information on why the liquids from fresh and raw foods are superior to drinking loads of water. When it comes to raw food diet practices that really make a difference, daily juicing is king!

All the essential nutrients in fruit and vegetables are locked in their fibers. A juice extractor frees these essential nutrients so they can be absorbed and used directly, requiring a minimum amount of digestive effort. Thus the metabolic energy can be used 100% for cleansing mucoid matter from the lymph and toxins from the cellular tissues.

You can also reap the benefits of a wide variety of vegetables simply by running them through the juicer, whereas, without the juicer, you might not eat that many servings of vegetables in one day. Juicing is an instant, concentrated and hydrating way to consume incredibly valuable vitamins, minerals, enzymes and antioxidants. It will do wonders in helping you eliminate eye bags and obtain that ‘glow’ that raw food enthusiasts are known for.
