Green Clay Masque

First Address the Inside

When your system gets overloaded, your body can't eliminate all of its waste through regular channels. Dry, oily, or sensitive skin, acne, and facial blemishes all result from gut problems, so they have to be addressed internally. My masque, therefore, does not deal with the symptoms. It is only meant to assist what your raw foods regimen is doing: It cleanses, hydrates and has a soothing effect on the outer layer of your skin. The main change must happen on the inside. But this doesn’t mean we should ignore the outside.

I am loving the masque - it feels a little tingly when I first put it on, then it makes my face feel silky soft! It's wonderful!!!

Facial Masque

Balanced Masque for All Skin Types

Instead of dealing with symptoms, I insist you eat plenty of raw foods. Instead of trying to develop a masque for each type of skin, I chose a balanced approach to the masque formulation and let the body figure it out. I believe everybody's skin needs impurities buildup removed, every skin needs hydration, and every skin needs to be treated gently. So I've developed a masque you can use for any skin type. For oily skin, this masque contains a clay which is ideal for absorbing excess oil buildup. For dry skin, this masque offers hydrating components. If you have sensitive skin, it is packed with soothing ingredients.

My masque offers the benefit of detoxifying properties and at the same time it is soothing and relaxing. It will tighten, clean and refresh the skin. Your skin will be hydrated... nourished... oxygenated. The final result is a renewed, rested and youthful appearance.

The body's first priority is survival. Your skin is the periphery of your body and will be addressed last. Here’s where a masque can help. By introducing oxygen and improving circulation, we affect our body's priorities. Let me emphasize here one more time: only when you provide the best possible nourishment for the inside organs can you hope for dramatic results on the outside.

I just wanted to let you know that we think the masque is fabulous. When you undo the lid the light fragrance of lavender lifts and relaxes the senses with an overwhelming feeling of being truly pampered. The beautiful soft texture of the masque is extremely soothing and calming and feels absolutely luxurious. The most exciting part comes when the masque is brushed off and a glowing almost polished face is revealed. We have been using the masque for 2 weeks now and the comments I am getting about my polished face is amazing. There is absolutely no need for foundation as it would spoil the look of sheer perfection. I have had more compliments about my skin in the last week than I have ever had.

Thank you Tonya from us mere mortals for yet another 50 years of beauty.

The Ultimate Nutrient Delivery System

Masques are a wonderful way to make your skin glow, even out its tone, and help it to be supple and youthful. A good mask increases blood circulation and removes toxins. Think of facial masques as the ultimate nutrient delivery system. In general, the ingredients are more concentrated than those in lotions or cleansers, so they produce bigger benefits in less time. A masque is much thicker than a moisturizer or topical treatment and because of its extended application time and the inner warmth opening the pores, the passage of nutrients into your skin occurs far more quickly and efficiently. Masques can also remove excess oil and environmental debris and pollutants much more gently than astringents, toners or scrubs, and eliminate them completely.

French Green Clay

One of the main ingredients in our masque is French Green clay. French Green Clay (AKA Illite Clay) is a natural, bio-organic material. Green clay owes its coloration to 2 factors: iron oxides, and... decomposed plant matter mostly kelp seaweed and other algae! (Any wonder why I have chosen this particular clay for my masque?) Green clay gets its powers from the very cycle of life nature uses to regenerate itself.

French Green Clay is extracted manually from a quarry in Southern France. After it is mined it is brought out into the sun to remove excess water. This prolonged exposure to the life giving sunlight endows the clay with its healing powers. Then it gets grounded with huge hydraulic crushers and subsequently pulverized with mesh equipment into fine powder. The highly micronized state of French Green Clay gives it remarkable absorbent properties. It literally drinks oils, toxic substances, and impurities from the skin. French Green Clay contains numerous valuable elements which include silica, magnesium, calcium, iron, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, copper, zinc, selenium, cobalt, manganese, phosphorous, silicon, micro-algaes, kelp, and phyto-nutrients, that are beneficial for your skin.

Use it Daily for 3-5 Minutes

The common opinion is that facial masques shouldn't be used more than once a week. But I think of masques like exercise-you won't get the benefits if you only do it once in a while. While developing this masque, one of my objectives was a delayed drying up time. Plus, by leaving the masque on your face for only 3-5 minutes, you get all the cleansing benefits without the drying effect that most clay masques produce. It can be used as often as skin permits, ideally every day leaving the skin looking instantly brighter and more clear.

Directions for use:

1. With dry clean fingers apply the mask on your dry face and décolleté area and massage for about one minute.

2. Do not wear your mask longer than 5 minutes. I keep mine on for just 3 to 4 minutes.

3. Rinse it off with warm water and a soft toothbrush. Ideally, use a specially designed masque removing brush, which comes FREE with the Masque Special from www.beautifulonraw.com

4. Follow with a cold rinse. Dry your face with a towel.

5. Finish by applying a moisturizing cream or our Facial Cream Glow.

Our specially designed 'Masque Removing Brush' (www.BeautifulOnRaw.com) is made with soft nylon bristles that are just right to gently brush your skin with no pulling or stretching. It not only makes the removal of the masque so much easier but also provides additional exfoliation. It reaches into the pores to lift and remove blemish-causing contaminants. It will leave skin looking and feeling its healthiest.

Polysorbate 60 is an emulsifier. It helps oils and waters to mix and become stable, similar to the olivate ingredients discussed above. There is not one emulsifier which is always used, all the time; each formulation has its own unique requirements, and the emulsifiers have to be adjusted to compensate. The addition of polysorbate 60 results in a stable product where the oils and water do not separate.

Sodium phytate plays a similar role as the EDTA, discussed earlier. It’s a chelating agent, and works to prevent trace metal ions from leading to early spoilage.  It’s not as powerful as EDTA, but as with the preservatives, the choice of appropriate chelating agent changes from one formulation to the next. All chelating agents play the same role in cosmetic formulations.

Phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin, together, form a broad-spectrum preservative blend to protect against microbial growth. This makes the product safer to apply to the skin, and helps ensure the most pleasant customer experience.
