Avoiding Age Spots on the Raw Food Diet

Most people assume that these dark brown spots are harmless, not realizing that age spots are an indication of an accumulation of waste products in the cells known as ‘lipofuscin” and damage to the skin’s collagen-producing cells that leads to free radical intoxication. They signify a more serious, underlying health problem. but it can be helped with the raw food lifestyle.

There is one thing that you will hear me say again and again, and it cannot be emphasized enough. That is, that outward signs of deteriorating appearance should be viewed as warning signs of a degeneration taking place inside. Quite often we can get to the root of some of our cosmetic concerns by attaining to a 100 percent raw food diet.

In my first book “Your Right to be Beautiful.” I address the topic of age spots. Age spots, also known as liver spots, are flat brown spots that resemble large freckles and can appear anywhere on the body as it ages. Most age spots appear on the areas frequently exposed to the sun such as the face, neck, and hands. However, the fault is not with normal sunlight per se. (Watch for upcoming article on why I do not recommend sunblock!)

When the diet contains too many toxins and not enough natural anti-oxidants, the body is unable to repair the damage. Your lymphatic system routes cellular wastes along with excess and used up hormones to your liver for detoxification. If the liver is overloaded, it will store these toxins in the cells of your organs, joints and skin.

Age spots are extremely difficult to avoid because if they are present on the skin then the aging body also has them in every inside organ, especially the brain.

The key to dealing with age spots is preventing and repairing cell damage. The only way I know to keep them at bay is a 100 percent raw food lifestyle (low in calories) and regular fasting (cleansing). That is what I personally do. I do not think that even being 70 percent raw can prevent them from showing up. They are coming from inside, and that is where they must be addressed. But it is possible to be age spot free: I do not have them, at least none that I can see externally.

Along with practicing Quantum Eating of a 100% raw food diet, don’t forget to dry brush the skin regularly. This will speed cell turnover rate and increase circulation as well. If you want to treat age spots topically, then hydrogen peroxide is a safe and effective alternative. However, treating age spots topically without cleansing the body with raw foods, wheatgrass and fasting will not bring about permanent results, so be sure to use a holistic approach.

Hydrogen peroxide is a natural substance, as every cell in your body is manufacturing its own peroxide constantly. Our body uses hydrogen peroxide to fight infection, parasites, bacteria, viruses and yeast. See the September 2008 BR Newsletter for more tips on using hydrogen peroxide for beautiful skin all over.
