How to Use Tapping to Look and Feel Younger than Your Age

1. Emotional Freedom Technique: A Simple Tool for Healing
It is human nature to want some measure of control over our lives. Following a raw food lifestyle, seeing some success in slowing down the aging process, and taking deliberate steps to restore my body after severe childhood injuries gave me the illusion that I had a certain amount of control over my life.
But the events of the past several months have reminded me how much in life is beyond our control. Two of my dearest friends became ill and passed away, and then three relatives died one after another. The grief has been overwhelming. I have had to learn to stop reaching for control and, instead, begin learning acceptance.
And yet, spring has come. Our three mulberry trees are heavy with the fruit I love, reminding me that even in grief, life goes on.
I want to share something that helped me deal with grief: Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT. Some people simply call it “tapping,” and I am sure many of you have already heard of it. I first learned about EFT years ago, but I did not use it consistently at the time. However, in a time of deep distress, EFT can feel like a lifeline.
EFT is a technique that has been studied scientifically. Research shows that it can have a strong effect on the nervous system and gene expression. According to the researcher Dr. Peta Stapleton 1 hour of tapping can change 72 genes in your body. 1 hour of tapping can reduce the stress hormone cortisone by 24%. EFT has been associated with changes in brain function, hormone production, brain waves, and blood flow, and many people report experiencing results very quickly.
Millions have been using it to rid themselves of pain, phobias, depression, childhood trauma, even to improve their financial situations and their relations with others. A profound effect at a very fast speed. Something is definitely going on there...
So, what’s it all about? The EFT technique has been called “psychological acupuncture,” because it’s based on a combination of ancient eastern practices and cutting-edge modern psychology. What do you actually do? Simple version…You stimulate selected points on your face and upper body by tapping on them.
I will not teach tapping here, because trained EFT professionals can guide you far better than I can. I simply want to bring your attention to this wonderful practice, which can help with many physical and emotional challenges. There are many YouTube videos where you can follow along with the practitioner. Just choose the issue you want to address and find a video that resonates with you.
2. Tapping for Health and Beauty
The past few months have brought life-shifting events and a powerful realization: how important it is to be kind to yourself, to appreciate what you already have, and to remember that today is the youngest you will ever be.
When I receive messages from young women worrying about a line here, a little puffiness there, or a touch of asymmetry somewhere, I feel such tenderness. She is being so hard on herself. I want to put my arms around this younger sister and say, borrowing Mary Poppins’ words: You are already “practically perfect.”
I believe in tapping. I believe in Neville Goddard' s the Law of Assumption — Instead of wanting something, you mentally and emotionally live as though it is already true. I believe that Gavel tapping can support the facial bone structure. But I added my own twist. I wove it all into one loving ritual —a ritual of kindness, of self-respect,
of remembering who we truly are.
Practically perfect. Already. ✨
As you tap gently on your face, try repeating these lines — or create your own. In fact, the best words are often the ones that feel most true and comforting to you.
Even though the years keep stepping,
And the mirror starts reflecting,
I will choose a gentle blessing —
Practically perfect — no more stressing.
What if age is just a notion,
Born from fear and old commotion?
I can shift that inner motion —
Practically perfect — soft promotion.
If my thoughts have been the maker
Of each worry, each heart-quaker,
I can be my bright day-maker —
Practically perfect, Poppins taker.
Every line upon my face
Holds a story, time, and grace,
I will meet my own reflection —
Practically perfect — kind affection.
I tap and smile, I breathe and play,
I let old judgments float away,
With Mary’s wink I start to say —
Practically perfect — here to stay.
The important thing is not to repeat the words mechanically, but to feel them. Let yourself imagine, even for a moment, that kindness toward yourself is already natural. See your reflection with softer eyes. In Neville Goddard’s words, live from the feeling of the wish fulfilled — “practically perfect.” And believe me, that inner shift will help you look and feel younger. Try it!
Also, to be seen as beautiful at any age, you must first allow yourself to feel beautiful. When you begin to feel beautiful, peaceful, and at home within yourself, others begin to notice that change too. That inner confidence becomes part of your presence — and presence is what people remember.
