How to Get Rid of Double-Chin
Causes of Double Chin
Not always is weight gain the sole or even major cause of double chin. But it’s often part of the reason when a double chin develops. If you’re carrying extra weight, your chance of acquiring a double chin are surely higher.
Age figures in as well. Skin loses elasticity as we get older. This can lead to loose, saggy skin. Over time, we also lose muscle mass. As chin muscles weaken, skin loosens, creating the look of a double chin. Wrinkles, too, can create this double-chin look.
Genetics have their effect. A family history of double chins may make you more susceptible. Whether the result of genetics or mere habit, poor posture can also lead to double chins. Bad posture can weaken neck and chin muscles of the neck and chin and cause loss of skin elasticity.
Cosmetic treatments for double chins include Kybella. This 20-minute treatment is nonsurgical. It involves dozens of small injections during each of three to six treatments. Each treatment costs $1,200 to $2,000.
The increasingly popular CoolSculpting treatment freezes fat, killing cells. It claims a 20- to 25-percent reduction in fat thickness. Patients experience some discomfort as fat is frozen, then massaged. One to three months will be needed for your chin to look tight and your fat to dissipate. Most need one treatment, costing between $700 and $1,500.
Near-infrared skin tightening is a 10- to 15-minute process. Patients comment that it feels like a warm wand rubbed on your skin. This is not a permanent solution. Its effects wear off within six months. $1,600 is a typical cost per treatment.
My family cranks out plump women. I was one of them. I had a double chin in my twenties. In my thirties, it was winning and I wasn’t. You can see it in my "Before" pictures—quite distinctly. I felt so disheartened. Nothing seem to help.
Then, at age 37, my raw foods journey began. Remarkably quickly, my double chin disappeared. And it’s never came back—not even for a visit.
I’m convinced now that much of our society’s trouble with distended stomachs, double chins, love handles, puffy faces, and all manner of superfluous protuberances is the doing of processed foods. And, say I, cooking is processing.
Raw food is the very best solution for a double chin—indeed for all our unwanted bulges. By removing from the body all that is extra, raw foods will beautify you from the inside.
Double chins come in two flavors. One is caused by fatty deposits which result from being overweight. These can be eliminated only by improving your diet and thereby losing excess fat. Raw foods can help.
